Scott Braley Photography


Scott Braley is an Oakland based photographer who works for colleges, non-profit organizations, social justice groups, magazines and artists. His passions are nature, the environment, and neglected or suppressed histories.  With his writing partner Mickey Ellinger, he worked with Allensworth elder Mrs. Alice Royal to produce the book Allensworth the Freedom Colony; a California African American Township, available from Heyday Books. He and Mickey also produced a 24 page supplement for the National Park Service: Native People, the Anza Expedition, and the Settlement of California (download pdf), available from News from Native California and the National Park Service. Scott and Mickey are currently working with a Modoc Indian elder to produce her memoirs.

Braley is a member of the San Francisco Bay Area Press Photographers Association, the American Society of Media Photographers, and Media Alliance.
